(Franklin, GA) — The Heard County Middle School football team scored a big 30-6 playoff win over Villa Rica Thursday at HCMS to earn a spot in tomorrow’s West Georgia Middle School Championship game versus Bowdon.
Head coach Dustin Lane is excited about the opportunity to meet Bowdon again after falling to them 22-6 earlier in the season in Franklin.
“I feel like we are playing as good right now as we have all season. The kids have finally really bought into what we are trying to do,” said Lane Thursday. “We are going into this championship game at 4-4 and we have battled some adversity after starting 0-3.”
Lane was pleased with his team’s play in winning four of five down the stretch.
“Our defense played really well today and I feel like our offensive line really dominated today,’ said Lane after the semi-final win. “Our quarterback Will Alford has done a tremendous job. His footwork is really good, he throws it well and he is so smart with the ball.”
Franklin Jackson scored two touchdowns to lead the offense in the win over the Wildcats and Isaiah O’Neal added another. Mason Bailey had a huge funble recovery for the defense.
The middle Brave starting defense held the Wildcats to just six points in two games this season and includes Jackson, O’Neal, Bailey, Jacob Miles, Jackson Akins, Dylan Stephens, Eli Dean, A.J. Rogers, Blake Baldwin, Clay Barker, and Kayden Minix.
The West Georgia Middle School Championship game versus Bowdon will be played tomorrow at 6:00 PM at Bowdon High School.
