(Franklin, GA) — Six senior Heard County High school athletes from six different sports took part in the Spring Signing Day at Heard County High School Thursday morning at HCHS and another Brave musician recently signed to move up to the next level as well.
Family, friends, administrators, faculty and coaches were all on hand for these big moments organized multiple times each year by HHS athletic director Shane Lassetter.
The future collegiates each received gifts and took memorable photos with those attending.
Three of the seniors will be staying together when they move close by to become a part of the Panther family at Lagrange College.
Holly Moreland (Cross Country), Makayla Red (tennis), and Bryan Jones (baseball) each will attend the Troup County school this fall.
LaGrange College is a private, four-year liberal arts and sciences college founded in 1831 as a female educational institution — it is the oldest private college in Georgia.
The Panthers are members of the NCAA Division III and the USA South Conference.
In a May 2 ceremony at HCHS, senior Eli Caldwell signed on to become a part of the Marching Skyhawks band at Point University.
Point University is a private, Christian, liberal arts university in West Point, GA. The liberal arts institution was founded in 1937 as Atlanta Christian College, located in the Atlanta suburb of East Point. In 2011, the college announced a name change to Point University. It relocated its main campus to West Point, Georgia, in June 2012.

Elite Heard County sportsman Chris Carroll will be heading to Brewton Parker College to further his competitive fishing career.
Brewton-Parker is a private, Christian, coeducational college located in Mount Vernon, Georgia. The Barons are part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), primarily competing in the Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC).
Four year basketball stand-out Sage Kelley will be heading to Southern Crescent Tech.
Sarah Grace Rogers — Marching Band
Southern Crescent Technical College is a public, accredited two-year postsecondary college with two main campuses located in Griffin, Georgia and Thomaston, Georgia.
Southern Crescent offers programs of study in the areas of business, health, industrial, and public service with choices of associate degrees, diplomas, and technical certificates of credit.
The Tigers compete in men’s and women’s basketball as Division III members of the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association (GCAA), which is Region XVII of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA).
Class co-valedictorian Sara Wiggins is headed across the state to Athens where she will attend the University of Georgia as a member of the Bulldogs sideline cheer squad.
The Bulldogs compete at the NCAA D-1 level and were national championship runner-ups in the 2017-2018 season.
