NEWS AND NOTES

Class AA State Softball Rankings — The Lady Brave varsity softball team is ranked No. 3 in Class AA in the Week 5 Score Atlanta Poll. The top two includes No. 1 Rockmart and No. 2 Monticello.

Homecoming Parade — The annual HCHS Homecoming Parade through downtown Franklin is this Thursday at 4:30 PM.

HCMS Football — The middle Braves fell to Bowdon 34-8 Monday on the road in a game that was suspended last Thursday due to weather.

Brave Nation Player of the Week

The Brave Nation Player of the Week is 8U Brave football player Mr. Bryceon Vaughn.

Bryceon had a monster effort in the 8U Braves season opening 36-21 win over Carroll County Saturday rushing for over 375 yards and scoring six Brave TD’s.

The 8U Braves will be back in action at Staples Stadium this Saturday at 11:00 AM versus Bremen Blue.

Congratulations to Bryceon for being named this week’s Brave Nation Player of the Week. 

JV Softball Tripleheader — The junior varsity Lady Braves traveled to Rockmart Saturday for a tourney. The girls dropped close games to Rockmart (5-1) and Woodland (2-1) but defeated Cedartown 5-1.

Marching Braves bound for Philly — The Marching Braves will take part in the 100th anniversary edition of the oldest Thanksgiving Day parade in the Nation next year in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Big 8U Football Win — The 8U Braves under head coach Shane Dawson defeated Carroll County 36-21 in their season opener Saturday on the road. Bryceon Vaughn had a huge day running the ball, Caleb Janney had a big fumble recovery late in the game and C.J. Bonner and Jacob Duncan combined on a big sack in the second quarter. The 10U Braves fell 19-6 to Carroll County with Cameron Latimer scoring a TD for the Braves.
